FAQIs LNS Turbo Edition compatible with prior versions of LNS? Yes. Applications and plug-ins that run on prior LNS versions will run on LNS Turbo Edition. LNS databases from prior LNS versions will be automatically upgraded to the LNS Turbo Edition format the first time the database is opened. After the database is upgraded to the LNS Turbo Edition format, it can't be opened by prior versions of LNS. It's good practice to back up databases before opening them with any new software version. Which Windows® operating systems does LNS Turbo Edition run on? LNS Turbo Edition runs on Windows XP, 2000, and Server 2003. We support all language versions of these Windows operating systems. LNS Turbo Edition is also compatible with Microsoft Terminal Services when used on these operating systems. I want to start developing with LNS. What development kit should I buy? Buy the Model 34309 LNS Application Developer's Kit, a single-seat development license. You'll want to buy a separate copy for each LNS developer. If you want to redistribute an LNS Server or LNS Remote Client software installation package with the software tools that you develop, also order the Model 34312 LNS Redistribution Kit. Even if you have multiple LNS developers, you only need one LNS Redistribution Kit. Which Windows application development tools can I use to build LNS applications? You can use any Windows application development tool that supports the use of COM components or ActiveX controls. If you're creating device plug-ins only, then you can use the NodeBuilder Development Tool—it includes the LNS tools you need to create device plug-ins. However, if you're developing other types of plug-ins (such as system, subsystem, channel, and other non-device plug-ins), you must buy the LNS Application Developer's Kit. If I have the Model 34309 LNS Developer's Kit for Windows (Release 3) or Model 34319 LNS Developer's Kit for Windows (Release 3), how do I upgrade to Turbo Edition? Order the Model 34319 LNS Application Developer's Kit Upgrade. Although the model number didn't change with the Turbo Edition release, all shipments of this model number are now the Turbo Edition.
